TOEFL iBT: Your Passport to Study Abroad

Hello!

Last month I visited the 14th IKPII International Education Expo 2012 in the Jakarta Convention Center. The event is held annually, twice a year. The stands were divided based on the countries; USA, Australia, Singapore and Europe. When I was walking around the venue, I passed by this rather interesting booth. It was a striking orange color and there seemed to be a lot of people visiting this booth. Feeling curious, I decided to approach it. Apparently it was not a university, it was the TOEFL booth. They were quite fancy compared to the other booths. Check it out!

They have a "Spin the Wheel" game.
Visitors can spin the wheel and get free TOEFL merchandise.

For some of you who don't know this, TOEFL is no longer paper based, it has evolved to Internet Based Test and even the scoring changed. The score is now 0 - 120. The TOEFL people told me that my 600 score on the TOEFL paper based test can no longer be used as it is not up to date. The test format is quite different too, if TOEFL PBT only consist of reading, listening, and structure and grammar, TOEFL iBT consisit of reading, listening, speaking and writing. I know right? So it tests all 4 language skills that we'll need when we study at a university.

I received a lot of new information regarding the TOEFL test and I'm glad I asked because I don't want to be unprepared if I plan to study abroad. The TOEFL people told me that TOEFL is the passport to study abroad, which I think is true. If you haven taken the TOEFL iBT test, then you can send it to any institutions you desire because it is accepted in more than 8,000 institutions worldwide.

Definitely going to take the TOEFL iBT test.. Will let you know if I take the test. For now, I need to sign out. Ask me anything by dropping your comments below :)

Cheers!
